This metropolis on the coast of the Indian Ocean was chosen to be Earth's first tether city in the 24th century, its development rooted in the Chinese expansion of influence in Africa 300 years before. The space elevator allowed explosive growth to transform it into the massive industrial skyline seen here, in the 26th century. As with all tether cities, it is divided into several walled sectors to limit destruction in the event of disaster or attack. Its imposing steel skyscrapers are linked into massive complexes each serving different purposes and corporations, many of them trade systems forming networks with other planets.

Mombasa's towering seawalls are the result of rising sea levels from climate change which started in the 21st century. As the colonization of space dawned and millions of people migrated to other worlds, temperatures cooled and sea levels lowered again, cementing the city as a great walled bastion on the east African coast, reminiscent of darker times.

 

인도양 연안의이 대도시는 24 세기에 지구 최초의 테더 도시로 선정되었으며, 그 발전은 300 년 전 아프리카에서 중국의 영향력 확대에 뿌리를두고있었습니다. 우주 엘리베이터는 26 세기에 폭발적인 성장으로 이곳에서 볼 수있는 거대한 산업 스카이 라인으로 변모했습니다. 모든 테더 도시와 마찬가지로 재난이나 공격 발생시 파괴를 제한하기 위해 여러 벽으로 나뉘어져 있습니다. 인상적인 강철 마천루는 각각 다른 목적과 기업에 서비스를 제공하는 대규모 단지에 연결되어 있으며, 대부분은 다른 행성과 네트워크를 형성하는 시스템을 거래합니다.

몸바사의 우뚝 솟은 방벽은 21 세기에 시작된 기후 변화로 인한 해수면 상승의 결과입니다. 우주의 식민지가 시작되고 수백만의 사람들이 다른 세계로 이주함에 따라 기온이 식고 해수면이 다시 낮아져 도시는 어두운 아프리카를 연상시키는 아프리카 동해안의 거대한 벽 요새가되었습니다.
